3D Class S2 Class 03 Hard Surface Modeling Project (High res Section)

This week we focused on hard surface modeling again. We picked a gun based on a group of reference images that Nick gave us to work with and we were to use either ZBrush, Maya, or Fusion to create the high res model. This project took me about 11 hrs to complete.

Here is the gun I picked: Sig Sauer P238

I made my gun with Fusion because I wanted to have more practice using the program, Here I am starting out by blocking out the overall shape of the gun

I slowly started blocking out more complex pieces added to the main body of the gun

Some more pieces at another view. Sights are added!

Next step was adding the smaller details into the bottom and top pieces, here is the top with all the details added

Here is the final product in Fusion, with all of the details added

I finished the project by bringing the gun into ZBrush and adding some tiny fixes

3D Class S2 Class 02 Resurfacing, Map Baking, And Substance Painter

This week we took our Fusion 360 knife from last week and customized it using Maya, ZBrush, and Substance. We first took the knife into Maya to create a low-poly version of the model by resurfacing the existing creation. We then took these two models through the Zbrush - Substance pipeline. This project took me around 23 hrs to complete

Results in Substance

The story I made for this knife is that this knife is owned by a bratty heir to a no-longer-relevant Brittish throne. The knife was a gift from his parents and it is a custom pocket knife named "Excalibur"

3D Class S2 Class 01 Modeling In Autodesk Fusion 360

To start off this new semester, we learned how to use Fusion 360 for hard surface modeling. The focus of this week was to become accustomed to the new program and follow a basic tutorial on how to model a knife. The original tutorial videos took approximately 2 hrs to follow, and the knife took me around 8 hrs to complete.

Forming the basic shapes of the handle and blade

Starting to add some basic details to the blade

Here is the blade coming along, nearly done with the details

Bottom view of the blade...SLICE!

Moving on to the handle detail

Here is the other side of the handle with the details added

Adding the clip

Adding the spacer detail, also a nice top view of the clip
